Dear Listener/Internet Surfer –

You have found your way to our website either because you are a lover of a cappella music or a lover of the Renaissance. I am both, which is why KnightSong means so much to me! My name is Pat, and I am the founder and Director of this wonderful ensemble.

The KnightSong singers come from all different walks of life. We have 10 singers (1 bass, 2 baritones, 2 tenors, 2 altos, 3 sopranos) with varying levels of experience and education in music. We all have non-musical careers, and do this as a hobby - but the people who sing in the group are phenomenal musicians.

The great thing about madrigal music is the challenge of singing it. The music was originally written for the entertainment of those singing it as much as for the enjoyment of those listening to it. The musicians used to just sit around a table and basically sing "at" each other. There are no instruments to rely on for your pitches, no accompaniment whatsoever, just the beauty of the human voice and the challenge of singing in harmony with others

KnightSong has been around since 1989. We strive to get better every year. I think the singers we have form the best combination of singers we've ever had. We are going to get back into the recording studio in the spring of 2006 and will hopefully have a new CD available shortly thereafter.

I manage the group and am the musical director. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed by life and all its pressures, the demands of my career, etc. (don’t we all?) I'll head out to a KnightSong rehearsal, grumbling all the way there about the traffic, taking the time away from work for music, not being able to just go home and relax -- and then we start singing - and the stress falls away and in its placeI am filled with wonder at the beauty of the music. I hope you will be, too.

We love what we do - the music is great - the fellowship is even better. It is our hope that our music and friendship will imbue our audience with the joy we feel as we sing.

Pat
